as you may, or may not have noticed since late-night last night this website has gotten a tor mirror. i think this is extremely important in our current world, and where we are heading. goverments such as russia, are blocking websites willy-nilly. UK and australia, and some parts of europe and america want your ID to access pretty much anything. this isnt the internet i grew up with, this isnt the internet i loved. where did the freedom go?

so to combact those draconian “age verification” i’ve decided to make a tor version of my website: leashmel2gt2rk7sdtbfop7y4nzhwcictux4twujaivwtg2zadxqp4yd.onion to ensure my website is available regardless of what boring suit-and-tie boomers thing. while yes, they have bigger fish to fry, and most personal blogs like mine would fall under “household exemptions”, i still believe its a good idea to have an alternative. not because i need it right now, but because its good to have something for just in case.

you’ve probably been told to avoid tor, you’ve probably been told that it’s a place where big scary hackers hangout, and than you should never ever visit it. this is.. well, a half truth. and not too different from “normal” internet (clearweb). just like clearweb, on darknet you’ll only find messed up shit if you specifically look for it. no one will shove onion links down your throat as soon as you open tor and make you download potentially illegal material. that’s not how any of this fucking works. you need to want it, and look for it.

darknet isn’t that much dangerous than the regular internet. you were taught to be intimidated of it by tech illiterate people who overheard some half-truths told by mass media. and if you trust the news, you’re already a lost cause.

tor is a valuable resource, and you shouldn’t be afraid of it. in fact, im inviting you, if you have a website, to provide a tor mirror of your website. even if you’re just shitpostting, it is still important. maybe there is a person in some bumfuck nowhere who wants to visit your website, but cant, because their draconian goverment said no.

stop being afraid of the big bad onion, because the onion, isn’t bad at all, actually.
